This is the first of a group of four smaller spiders I've created as a sort of a compliment to the big spider.
For the first one, above, I'm not playing any semantic or symbolic games with the houglass yet. I just wanted to make at least one of them a simple sculpture of a black widow.
Instead of painting the hourglass in red, however, I polished and masked the symbol, to let the raw luster of the bronze show through.
